ESMIG will once again take part in this year’s EU Sustainable Energy Week under the theme "Towards 2030: Reshaping the European Energy System". Organised by the European Commission, this is a key event for the industry, drawing experts from all over Europe to explore crucial issues for the energy transition. As part of the extended program, ESMIG will host an online session alongside our partners at EER and bne under the title "Access to energy data: innovative services for empowered consumers in the energy transition" on Wednesday 13 October from 15:00 – 16:30 CET.ESMIG’s Vice-President, Miguel Gaspar Silva, Global Head of Utilities IBU at SAP, will moderate the panel. As very welcomed guests, Tadhg O’Briain, Deputy Head of Unit for Consumers, Local Initiatives, Just Transition, DG ENER at the European Commission will join us for the opening speech and Marion Malafosse, Policy Manager at SmartEn, will join the panel discussions with a presentation. The session aims to present existing barriers preventing data-driven services, such as access to real time energy data and demand response, which are crucial for creating competitive retail markets and to provide innovative services to European consumers. Best practices in Member States will be presented, involving representatives from the wider energy ecosystem, while identifying solutions for regulators and market players.
